Revolution Careers Privacy Policy

Overview

The practices set forth in this Privacy Policy apply to the services available under the domain and subdomains of www.revolutioncareers.com (collectively, the “Site”), as well as any services provided by Revolution Human Capital, doing business as Revolution Careers (“Revolution,” “we,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy describes the information, as part of the normal operation of our services, we collect from you and what may happen to that information. Although this policy may seem long, we have prepared a detailed policy because we believe you should know as much as possible about the Revolution's practices so that you can make informed decisions.

By continuing to access or use the Site, or signing up for the Revolution Careers job recruitment and networking service (“Service”), you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy, and you expressly consent to our use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to Revolution’s Terms and Conditions and other terms and conditions relative to the Site. This Privacy Policy is effective for all users.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

When you sign for the Service and become a member (“Member”), we may request that you provide personal information, including but not limited to your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, resume, test scores, academic and career achievements, work status, and any other information from which your identity is discernible. We may also collect demographic information that is not unique to you, including but not limited to your current and hometown zip code. For employer Members, we may request additional information related to your company or organization, as well as billing information.

As part of your use of the Site and Service, you may have the opportunity to create a video interview(s) that may become a part of your profile on the Site.

We also gather or may gather certain information about your use of the Site and the Service, such as what areas of the Site you visit and which Revolution services you use. Moreover, there is information about your computer hardware and software that is or may be collected by us. This information can include without limitation your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Web site addresses, but is not linked to your personal information.

Our Use of Your Information

We use the information we gather on the Site, whether personal, demographic, collective or technical, for the purpose of operating and improving the Site and delivering the products and services that we offer.

If you have provided consent for us to do so, we may also use the information we gather to inform you of other products or services available from us or our affiliates.

We may use your contact information in order to send you e-mail or otherwise contact you regarding your job search, your profile, updates on the Site, or other matters pertaining to the Site or the Service. We may also provide additional communications, promotions and information employment opportunities. Furthermore, employers and/or recruiters using the Service may contact you directly regarding employment opportunities for which you have submitted your Revolution Careers profile or for other potential employment positions. In addition, you may receive free informational newsletters from us relating to topics that may be of special interest to you, such as career management advice.

Sharing and Disclosure of Information with Third Parties

We do not provide your personal information to third parties without your permission. We may share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is: 1) Reasonably necessary to offer our services; 2) Legally required; or, 3) Permitted by you. For example:

  1. We may disclose information to third parties if you consent to such disclosure. By signing up for the Service, you consent to the disclosure of your contact information, profile, video interviews, resume, and other information about yourself that you provide to Revolution to potential employers, who may then send you e-mail or otherwise communicate with you about potential job opportunities. Such disclosure may be made by posting your information in our searchable database for employers and/or recruiters, and/or by your submitting your profile to an employer for a specific employment opportunity, and/or transmitted directly by us to employers we think might be interested in hiring you. We may use data we collect about you to notify you of employment opportunities that may be of interest to you.
  2. We may disclose information to companies and individuals we employ to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include hosting our Web servers, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, processing credit card payments, and providing customer service. These companies and individuals will have access to your personal information as necessary to perform their functions, but they may not share that information with any other third party.
  3. We may disclose information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect our rights or property or our affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
  4. We may disclose and transfer information to a third party who acquires all or a substantial portion of our business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation or purchase of all or a substantial portion of our assets. In addition, in the event we become the subject of a bankruptcy proceeding, whether voluntary or involuntary, we or our trustee in bankruptcy may sell, license or otherwise dispose of such information in a transaction approved by the bankruptcy court. You will be notified of sale of all or a substantial portion of our business to a third party via email or through a prominent notice posted on the Site.

Other Uses of Information

We may collect and analyze information about your general usage of the Site and Services, such as your usage patterns to see what features of the Site and Services you commonly use, site traffic volume and frequency of visits, browser type, IP address and operating system. Revolution will collect, track and analyze such information in an aggregate manner that does not personally identify you. This aggregate data may be used by Revolution and third party vendors to assist Revolution in operating the Site and the Services and provided to other third parties to enable them to better understand the operation of Revolution’s business, but such information will be in aggregate form only and it will not contain personally identifiable data. We may also collect and analyze data such as aggregate information related to Members' education, work experience, or other information relevant to the job search or competition among job seekers.

If you apply for a job position via the Site, you may be asked to provide information on your gender, race or other protected status where permitted by applicable law. Some employers are required by law to gather this information from job applicants for reporting and record-keeping requirements. You should understand that if provided, this information must be used by employers only in accordance with applicable law and will not be used in making any negative employment decisions. All information provided will be kept separate from your expression of interest in any job opportunity. Providing this information is strictly voluntary and you will not be subject to any adverse action or treatment if you choose not to provide this information. Revolution does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

Personal Information on Resumes and Profiles

You may remove your resume and/or delete your Revolution profile from the Site at any time, but employers, recruiters and others who have paid to access the Revolution profile database or to whom you have previously submitted your profile, may have retained a copy of your resume or Revolution profile in their own files or databases. We are not responsible for the retention, use or privacy of resumes or profiles in these instances.

Public Profile Settings

As part of the service, Revolution may provide you with a public website URL as part of your Revolution profile. If your account is set to “Public”, your resume and other information included in your profile may be viewed by any individual who accesses that URL. You will be able to change the privacy status of your account settings at any time so that only individuals to whom you submit your profile or request feedback, or employers that are Members of the Service can view your profile.

NOTICE TO/REGARDING CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13

Revolution does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 is allowed to provide any personal information on our Site or register for the Service. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at answers@revolutioncareers.com.

CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 13 AND 18

Revolution does recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves over the Internet.

Permission to Use Your Content

By transmitting any information, identification, suggestions, material, or other content (collectively, “content’) via the Site or otherwise to Revolution, you automatically grant Revolution the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, redistribute, transmit, perform and display such content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in such content. Further, Revolution is free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, techniques and suggestions contained in any communications you send to this Site for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to creating, manufacturing and marketing products and/or services using such information, all without compensation to you.

Our Site may include links to other websites. If you decide to follow these links, we are not responsible for the privacy policies and content of these sites. Generally, we will inform you of these links.

Cookies

Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide features. The Site uses persistent cookies to identify Members after their first visit. These cookies remain on the hard drive of a personal computer and may allow a member to enter the site without having to log in on every visit. To access any secure areas such as your account information, you must still enter your password. You can choose to disable cookies by deselecting that option under your browser preferences.

Access to and Modification of Your Information

You may review, correct, update or change your Revolution account information at any time. You may also opt out of receiving newsletters and certain other information from Revolution.

We retain indefinitely all the information we gather about you in an effort to make your repeat use of the Site more efficient, practical, and relevant. You can delete your resume from the Site, and close your Revolution account at any time, in which event we will remove all our copies of your resume from the Site, and remove your Revolution profile and account information, except for an archival copy which is not accessible on the Internet.

Security

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer. You are responsible for all actions taken with your credential and password, including fees charged to your account. Therefore we do not recommend that you disclose your Site password to any third parties. If you choose to share your credential and password or your personal information with third parties, you are responsible for all actions taken with your account and therefore you should review that third party’s privacy policy. If you lose control of your password, you may lose substantial control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately change your password. Although Revolution may employ industry-standard measures to protect your personally identifiable information from loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction, Revolution cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat these measures or use your personally identifiable information for improper purposes. Revolution is not responsible for the unauthorized use by third parties of information you post or otherwise make available.

Terms and Conditions and Other Notices and Revisions

If you choose to visit the Site or sign up for the Service, your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions and other terms and conditions, including limitations on damages, and application of the law of the State of California. If you have any concern about privacy or terms of use of the Site or the Service, please contact us with a thorough description, and we will try to resolve it.

Because our business changes constantly, our Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions may also change from time to time. You should check the Site frequently to see any recent changes. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account.
