Frequently Asked Questions

Candidate FAQ

Is Revolution Careers just another job board or social network?
Nope. We provide tools for job seekers and employers to connect, and let you highlight what makes you a great candidate — beyond the resume. We also provide resources to help you with your job search.
Is Revolution Careers free for job seekers?
Of course! Why would we charge you? You’re the one looking for a job.
How will Revolution Careers help me get hired?
Companies working with Revolution want candidates to create a profile to apply. If you come to the site from an employer's posting, you'll be able to submit your profile directly to them from the Apply to Jobs tab. From there, you can also choose to submit your profile to any other employers you'd like.
What exactly is a Revolution Careers profile?
Your profile consists of a resume – yes, employers still use those – professional and academic highlights, intangible strengths, supporting materials, and video interviews to let you explain who you really are, in your own words.
What are video interviews all about?
Videos are optional, but they can give you valuable "face time" with hiring managers. You'll answer brief questions that elaborate on your strengths – or write your own questions – and include your videos with your profile. When you apply to a job, the employer may request that you create a couple video interviews as part of the screening process. You can also record yourself practicing questions, which employers will never see.
Will my resume and videos be viewable all over the web?
Only if you want. Your profile is initially set to "Private", so it can only be viewed by people and companies you submit it to through the site. You can choose to make your profile "Public" in your Account Settings, which will allow anyone to view your unique profile URL (e.g., www.revolutioncareers.com/janesmith). Your "Public" URL will not display your contact information, unless you've uploaded your resume.
I hate filling out forms. How long does it take to create a profile?
Almost no time at all. Upload your resume (or use our quick resume builder), and then fill out your Highlights and Strengths, which takes under two minutes. If you choose to create videos, that'll add a bit more time, but they're worth it – employers love them.
How do I record a video interview?
You can either upload videos to our site, or use a webcam (either built-in or one that connects with a standard USB). On the Videos tab, just click the relevant button.
Can I get advice on my profile?
Yes, we encourage you to ask as many people as you'd like to review your profile to help put your best foot forward. From the Advice tab, send your profile to friends, family, alumni, counselors, whomever. They'll leave you private comments, helping make you a better candidate.
I can’t remember my password. How can I retrieve it?
No problem. Just click the "Sign In" link in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage. Then click "forgot password?" and enter the email address you used to sign up. We'll email your password to that email account.

Employer FAQ

Is Revolution Careers just another job board or applicant tracking system?
Nope, it's a web-based recruiting platform that helps companies manage and evaluate applicants, regardless of where they're sourced. You'll save time on the hiring process by focusing on candidates who are the best fit.
How does the site work?
Create a job listing in seconds and we'll provide you with a unique URL to include in your postings on Craigslist, college job boards, Twitter, or wherever you already post. Candidates apply through the link and are displayed in your Job Inbox. Then login to filter, sort and evaluate candidates from an intuitive interface.
Does that mean no more resume attachments and organizing applicants from my Outlook?
Yep, we figured your email inbox is crowded enough as it is.
How do I evaluate applicants?
You’ll see a candidate’s resume, experience highlights, supporting materials, and self-identified intangible skills — all from a single page. You also have the option to view a candidate’s brief video interviews.
What are video interviews?
Videos can add to the screening process, especially after you've reviewed someone's resume. You can request that applicants record answers to specific questions about your company, industry, or their personal strengths. Your team can then review the videos on their own schedule to decide whether you want to move forward with a phone screen or in-person interview.
Does viewing videos comply with non-discrimination guidelines?
According to the EEOC, under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it is not illegal for an employer to learn the race, gender or ethnicity of an individual prior to an interview. However, all individuals must be provided equal, nondiscriminatory treatment throughout the hiring process. It's therefore the responsibility of your organization – and everyone involved with the hiring process – not to discriminate on the bases of race, color, sex, pregnancy, religion, national origin, age, or disability.
Can other people from my company access our account to review applicants?
Yes, if you'd like to add new users, just email us at employers@revolutioncareers.com.
Is there any software to download or are their maintenance fees?
Nope. It's a secure, web-based platform that you can access from any Internet connection. No annoying software installation or maintenance fees.
Does Revolution control the communication between candidates?
No, we do not "middleman" your communication with applicants. You can email or call any candidate directly whenever you'd like. But you also have the option to send automated emails through Revolution — to recognize receipt of an application, for example, or if you’d like to request a video interview.
Can I close a posting so that no new applicants apply?
Yup.
My company uses an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Can I still use Revolution?
Yes. We can help manage your hiring process, including tracking where applicants are in the process. But Revolution is much more than an ATS — it's a candidate evaluation tool. If you currently route candidates into an ATS or your own system, you can still invite candidates you're interested in to record video interviews with Revolution to help with your screening process. You'll get access to all the features, including videos, notes, folders, etc.
I’m clicking on an applicant's profile and I can't see the resume. What's up?
If a candidate uploads a resume, it might take up to a few minutes for it to be displayed within your Inbox. If you continue to have problems viewing any section of a profile, please contact us.
How do I protect against misinformation on a candidate's profile?
Since applicants can misrepresent their background and experience regardless of whether they apply online or offline, we recommend that you validate any candidates before making an offer. If you suspect somebody is misrepresenting their background, please report them to us.
What if I have any support questions?
Please e-mail us at support@revolutioncareers.com with any questions.
